(August 25, 2023) History buffs unite: The historical commissions of the City of Tucson and Pima County could re-join forces next month, two years after some bad advice from the National Park Service led the city and county to decide to split into two separate historical commissions. The county board of supervisors and the city council are scheduled to vote on it at their meetings next week, County Administrator Jan Lesher and City Manager Michael Ortega wrote in a Tuesday memo.

(January 10) Everything under the sun: Tucson Sentinel columnist Blake Morlock dives deep into the agendas of pretty much every local governing body that has a public meeting coming up. The Tucson City Council plans to raise parking fees, the Pima Community College Governing Board is balking at supporting fare-free transit (but not exactly for the reason Tucson officials accuse them of), the Marana Town Council may approve food truck courts, and much, much more.

(January 29) Say ‘no’ to racing: Pima County supervisors said last week that there will be no racing at Rillito Racetrack for the first part of the year because of overdue financial audits, KGUN’s Adam Klepp reports. Rillito board member and former Tucson mayoral candidate Ed Ackerley said the track has given the paperwork to their accounting firm, but the process is complicated and is taking a long time. He said he’s hopeful that racing can take place later this year.

(May 24) County Titans: Pima County is one step closer to owning the Titan Missile Museum, KGUN staff reports. The county board of supervisors voted unanimously at their meeting Tuesday to approve an operating agreement with the Arizona Aerospace Foundation to run the site. The county started the process of taking over the site two years ago.
